Summary

This is a simple program that I wrote in IronPython to drill me in German vocabulary. While the application itself might not be interesting, the technology behind it might be. It uses:

• Windows Presentation Foundation (a.k.a. Avalon)
• XAML
• System.XML
• NotifyIcon
• MessageQueue (and therefore Invoke)

Requirements

• IronPython Beta 7 or later
• WinFX Runtime Components
• Message Queueing (Add or Remove Programs -> Add/Remove Windows Components)
• Application Source Code

Operation

This application was designed to be run on startup and only display a blinking flag in the Taskbar when it wants to ask a question. Thefore, you must invoke the program a second time in order for the Taskbar icon to appear. To run the program, execute:

IronPython app.py
